A Pre-Conference Tutorial Program and the 39th SAMPE Students Seminar are held in conjunction with this SAMPE Europe International Conference. At SAMPE Europe Conferences over 100 authors are on stage. They present high-quality Technical Papers that focus on Challenging Applications in Advanced Composites Materials and their Processes. In the accompanying exhibition over 30 sponsoring companies will present their most recent innovations. Delegates from over 25 countries are expected.

Plant Visits

1. Spirit AeroSystems (Tuesday OR Friday)

Spirit AeroSystems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aerostructures and components. They provide solutions for both commercial and defense customers with application of emerging technologies. As one of the world’s largest tier-one manufacturers and suppliers of aerostructures, Spirit AeroSystems applies research and emerging technologies in designing, fabricating, assembling and integrating components and structures for premier commercial and defense aerospace programs.

2. Artemis Technologies (Tuesday OR Friday)

Artemis Technologies are known as the leading experts in green maritime innovation. Building on our high-performance background, our mission is to lead the decarbonisation of the maritime industry through the design and development of transformative technologies and zero-emission vessels.

At the forefront of maritime engineering, we utilise our specialist expertise to provide tailored services to both high-performance and commercial clients, as well as develop unique products like our disruptive Artemis eFoiler® electric propulsion system. The Artemis eFoiler® systems powers our range of 100% electric foiling vessels, which include the Artemis Workboat and CTV RangeArtemis Patrol Range and Artemis Public Transport Range which will revolutionise the maritime sector.

Artemis Technologies’ expertise also covers computer simulation modelling. At our Manufacturing Facilities, we have a world-leading 360-degree computer mechanical hardware in the loop (MHIL) simulation tool that helps to optimise designs of the eFoiler® systems for any type of vessel.​ Our digital twin models and simulator mean we can create realistic sea conditions to test and improve designs to reduce costs and streamline the design and production process.

The visit will incorporate an introduction to Artemis Technologies, a manufacturing facility tour, simulator demonstration and on-water experience of Pioneer – our electric foiling workboat technology demonstrator.

3. Collins Aerospace (Tuesday)

4. CCP Gransden | Advanced Composites (Tuesday)

CCP Gransden manufacture high value composite products for a range of industry sectors. We are an AS9100 approved manufacturer, embedding quality and traceability into everything we do. We are also proactive members of several innovation bodies. We are trusted by notable global customers in security and defence, aerospace and transport. We have potentially the UK’s widest selection of composites manufacturing processes available in-house. To meet and exceed the varied challenges of our multi-sector clients we have built up a highly skilled team and invested in many of the latest advanced composite manufacturing technologies.

During the tour you will see specialist capability with one of the UK’s most advanced filament winding cells, and an adaptive high volume manufacturing cell which is the only machine of its kind currently owned by a private company in the UK. This facility can accommodate high precision manufacture by Compression Moulding, RTM, HPRTM, Thermoforming and Overmoulding.

5. Creative Composites (Friday)

Creative Composites are at the forefront of delivering innovative composite solutions across a range of industries and our wealth of knowledge and expertise particularly in compression moulding has allowed us to build a strong reputation within the composites industry. Our aim is to deliver the highest quality components that meet stringent requirements expected by the world-renowned brands we work with. Since our formation in 2000, the company has invested heavily in advanced equipment and the latest technologies within our purpose built 150,000sq.ft factory located in Northern Ireland. Our capabilities allow us to offer composite solutions for low, medium and high-volume requirements.

Creative Composites houses two of the largest production presses in the UK amongst a further four presses of various scale. We have implemented various levels of automation across key processes in our factory to cater for all aspects of advanced composite manufacturing.

During the tour you will see this state-of-the-art equipment in use and learn about our market leading products delivered through better design, better manufacture and better service.

6. Denroy (Friday)

Denroy is based in Northern Ireland, and still a family owned business, Denroy Limited is a leading injection moulding manufacturer with over 50 years of experience and expertise in research and technology, design, prototyping, manufacturing and quality assurance, for supplying precision industries such as Medical, Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Commercial and Brushes.

Our design team works in close partnership with clients to develop initial design concepts or to take existing designs and make them suitable to manufacture via the injection moulding process. We work with partners in industry to develop new and innovative processes, concepts and components for complex aerospace and defence applications.
